Mini Medallists is a venture that was started, and is influenced, by the demands of the customers - children and parents.

Football coach and Primary School PE teacher Neil Kateley was first asked to throw football-themed birthday parties for children he was teaching in 2005. As the enjoyment levels of the children attending grew, so did the number of parties being requested. Soon, children from the same class would be going to as many as ten football themed parties per year….all organised by Neil!

It soon became obvious that variety was the key to keeping parties fresh and fun for the children, so a more generic sporty format was devised and demand started to grow even higher. Those without as much of an active interest in football would also be able to have the party they wanted.

And so, after a lot consideration due to the strict trademark laws that comes with the OlympicsMini Medallists was born.

We wanted to keep a competitive format to the parties, to give it an extra fun factor - which is why we adopt the Gold/Silver/Bronze format. However, we didn’t want to alienate those children who feel themselves less confident, or less able, at participating in sport. Therefore, each Mini Medallists occasion rewards a “Star Performer” for their behaviour, enthusiasm or progress made over the course of the day/week/term.

As a result of the success of the first Mini Medallists parties, we decided in the summer of 2009 to open the fun out into holiday courses, so that children were able to experience to fun of our games more than a handful of times per year!

As we move towards 2012, Mini Medallists continues to grow. We are now hosting holiday courses in various areas of London and Hertfordshire, and our extra curricular activities continue to be oversubscribed. Our birthday parties service continues to be a popular stream of our business, and we are constantly coming up with new, original games that children love! We are also considering two new ventures that will (hopefully!) start in 2012.

What started just two years ago as Neil and a bunch of ideas is now a successful company with seven members of staff!
